Imitating God's generosity is one of the Gospel values that we, Filipinos, would like to acquire.
Generosity is the value that the Lobrido family practices in returning to the people what ever financial gains they get from their rice farm produce. This has been a family tradition of theirs. Every third saturday of August or whichever date that falls on saturday from August 18 - 22, the Lobrido family celebrates what they called "returning to the people what God has blessed them during the year".
Last August 22, 2009, Saturday, we were invited to this celebration. There was a mass in honor of San Roque, the patron saint of purok Langka, Barangay Taloc, Bago city. After the Mass, a lunch was served to the people in the purok as they gathered in the house of the Lobrido family. This time the activity was held in the house of GM Bebing Lobrido, the 1st generation inheritor of the Original Filipino Tapado Long Stick Fighting Association, Inc. All the members of the family contributed to the celebration including their children. Brothers Clodualdo and Benefredo, took turns in preparing the food for the people.
We, from Bacolod City, were invited as guest in this celebration. We witnessed the flock of people gathered during lunch time.
After lunch the old Tapadistas shared insights with the new ones. It was a celebration of thanksgiving and camaraderie.
